Veterinary nurses are highly trained, regulated professionals. For a lot of everyday care they are the right person to see, and the quicker one to get in with.
Nail clips
Safe trimming for overgrown claws, with a calm approach for anxious pets.
Anal gland expression
Relief for scooting, licking and discomfort, plus advice on diet to reduce it happening again.
Post-operative checks
Wound and suture checks after surgery, and reassurance that healing is on track.

Puppy socialisation visits

Including monthly Librela injections for arthritis in dogs, once prescribed by a vet.

The nurse sees your pet
The procedure, a check over, and advice on what to do at home.
A vet if needed
If the nurse thinks a vet should look, they’ll arrange it. You won’t pay the nurse fee on top.
On a health plan, every nurse consultation is included.
Companion is £25 a month for dogs and cats, with unlimited vet and nurse consultations, vaccinations and flea and worming. That’s a nail clip and a weight check a month paid for before you count anything else.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to see a vet first?
No. You can book a nurse consultation directly. The nurse assesses your pet at the start of the appointment and will involve a vet if anything needs one.
How long does a nurse appointment take?
Most last around 15 to 20 minutes, depending on what’s being done.
Can a nurse give my dog their Librela injection?
Yes. Once a vet has prescribed it, the monthly injections can be given by a nurse at a £20 nurse consultation, or included on a health plan.
Are nurse consultations included on the health plans?
Yes. Both Companion and Companion Plus include unlimited nurse consultations.
Can I bring my puppy in just to get used to the vets?
Please do. Puppy socialisation visits are relaxed and treat-based, with no procedures, so your puppy learns that the practice is a good place.
What if the nurse finds something they can’t treat?
They’ll arrange for a vet to see your pet. You won’t be charged the nurse consultation on top of the vet consultation.
