5.2 You must tell us about all pre-existing conditions when you join and before any appointment or treatment.

5.3 Vet and nurse consultations for a disclosed pre-existing condition are included in your plan. Treatment for it is not included and is charged at our standard prices, less your plan discount. Companion Plus members get 30% off medication for pre-existing conditions, and Companion members get 20% off.

5.4 If a condition was not disclosed and we later find it was pre-existing, we may charge standard prices for any treatment already given for it.

6. Joining and your first health check

6.1 Companion Plus members must bring their pet for a health check within 28 days of joining. If this does not happen, we may suspend or cancel the plan.

6.2 If your pet is not fully vaccinated when you join, illness linked to vaccination, or to a disease the vaccinations prevent, is not covered in the first month.

7. How long your plan lasts

7.1 Each plan lasts for 12 months from the date you join and renews automatically for a further 12 months unless you tell us otherwise.

7.2 If you do not want your plan to renew, please tell us at least 30 days before your renewal date.

8. Cancelling your plan

8.1 If you joined online, you can cancel within 14 days of joining, as long as you have not used any plan benefits.

8.2 You can cancel at any time if your pet dies.

8.3 Apart from 8.1 and 8.2, you cannot cancel during your 12 month term. You can upgrade from Companion to Companion Plus at any time.

8.4 If we change your plan or its price and you do not agree, you can end your plan by giving us 14 days' notice (see section 11).

9. Payments

9.1 Plans are paid monthly or annually, in advance. Monthly payments are by debit card only.

9.2 If a payment fails, we will try to take it again. If payments keep failing, we may end your plan and charge an administration fee of £20 for each failed payment.

9.3 Treatment and products not included in your plan are paid for at the time.

10. Fair usage

10.1 Plan consultations are for genuine concerns about your pet's health. They are not limited to a set number, but they must be used fairly.

10.2 Examples of unfair use include booking appointments that are not needed, using plan benefits for a pet not on the plan, and repeatedly missing booked appointments without telling us.

10.3 If we think a plan is not being used fairly, we will talk to you first. If it continues, we may limit plan consultations or end the plan under section 12.

11. Changes to plans and prices

11.1 We may change plan benefits or prices once a year, or sooner if our costs change significantly. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any change.

11.2 If you do not agree with a change, you can end your plan by giving us 14 days' notice.

12. When we may end your membership

12.1 We may end your registration or plan if:

  • information you gave us is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • payments are not made;
  • you break these terms;
  • a plan is used unfairly (section 10); or
  • appointments are repeatedly missed without notice.

13. What happens when a plan ends

13.1 When a plan ends, plan benefits stop and our standard prices apply.

13.2 If you have received plan benefits worth more than the payments you have made, you must pay the difference.

14. Treatment and consent

14.1 We will ask you to sign a consent form before any procedure, except where emergency treatment is needed for your pet's welfare.

14.2 All clinical decisions are made by our vets, based on what is best for your pet.

15. Out of hours care

15.1 We do not provide out of hours emergency care ourselves. Out of hours care is provided by another practice, and their fees are paid directly to them. They are not included in any plan.

16. Our liability to you

16.1 We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our negligence or our breaking these terms.

16.2 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

16.3 Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us.

17. Your information

17.1 We handle your personal information in line with our privacy policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZB956430).

18. Questions and complaints

18.1 If you have a question or are unhappy with anything, please contact us at hello@pawsandco.vet or call 0113 868 6100. We will always try to put things right.
