A Complete Diet Is a Strong Foundation — But Not Always Enough on Its Own.

Most commercial pet foods are formulated to meet baseline nutritional requirements under normal conditions. But life isn't always normal — growth spurts, ageing, illness, recovery, pregnancy, restricted diets, and dietary accidents all create situations where targeted supplementation makes a real difference.

The two products in this range address very different needs — one supports long-term structural and immune health, the other provides rapid response support when something has gone wrong in the gut.

🦴

Bone & muscle support

Calcium and Vitamin D are critical for skeletal development, muscle function, and immune health throughout life

🌿

Digestive detox

Activated charcoal binds unwanted substances in the gut — useful after dietary indiscretion or digestive upset

🐾

Every life stage

Suitable for puppies and kittens through to senior pets — different needs, targeted support

💧

Easy liquid formats

Both products are straightforward to administer — simply add to food or give directly

Two Products. Two Very Different Jobs.

One supports long-term health and development. The other provides targeted support when your pet's gut needs a reset. Both vet-selected and stocked at Paws & Co Veterinary Centre.

Activated charcoal works by adsorbing toxins and irritants within the digestive tract, helping to reduce their absorption and support the body's natural recovery process. Useful after dietary indiscretion — when your pet has eaten something they shouldn't — or during episodes of general digestive upset. Available in two sizes.

  • Supports recovery after dietary indiscretion

Not Sure If Your Pet Needs a Supplement?

Here are the situations where owners find these products most useful — matched to the right product for each.

🐶

Growing puppies & kittens

Rapid skeletal growth in the first year of life places high demands on calcium and Vitamin D intake. Supplementation supports healthy bone and muscle development during this critical window.

🐕

Senior pets

Bone density and muscle mass naturally decline with age. Ongoing calcium and Vitamin D support helps maintain mobility, strength, and immune function in older animals.

Home-prepared or raw diets

Pets fed home-prepared or raw diets are at higher risk of nutritional gaps — particularly calcium deficiency. A dedicated supplement helps ensure dietary balance.

Dogs that eat anything

Some dogs have no filter — bin raiding, scavenging on walks, eating garden plants. Activated charcoal provides a rapid gut-binding response when they've ingested something they shouldn't have.

Activated Charcoal
🤢

Digestive upset without clear cause

When a pet has loose stools or vomiting that seems to follow a dietary trigger, activated charcoal can help settle the gut while the body works through the disruption.

Limited sun exposure

Vitamin D is synthesised through sun exposure — pets kept largely indoors, or in low-sunlight climates, may benefit from supplementation to maintain optimal levels year-round.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I give Calcium & Vitamin D to my pet if they're already on a complete food?

Complete commercial pet foods are formulated to meet standard calcium requirements, so supplementation may not be necessary for all pets on a complete diet. However, growing animals, seniors, pregnant or lactating females, and those on home-prepared diets often benefit from additional support. If in doubt, speak to your vet.

Is activated charcoal safe for pets?

Yes — activated charcoal is widely used in veterinary practice as a safe and effective gut-binding supplement. It works by adsorbing substances in the digestive tract rather than being absorbed itself, and passes through the system naturally.

When should I call the vet rather than using activated charcoal at home?

If your pet has ingested something you know to be toxic — medications, antifreeze, certain plants, xylitol — please contact your vet immediately rather than attempting to manage it at home. Activated charcoal is appropriate for general dietary indiscretion and mild upset, not as a substitute for emergency veterinary treatment.

Can I give both products at the same time?

They serve entirely different purposes so there is no conflict — however, if giving activated charcoal following an upset, be aware that it may reduce the absorption of other supplements given at the same time. Space them a few hours apart where possible.
