Unlike humans, pets can’t sweat to cool down. Dogs cool themselves by panting, and cats rely on shade and hydration—but in extreme heat, this isn’t enough.

Early signs of heatstroke:

• Excessive panting
• Drooling or glazed eyes
• Lethargy, vomiting or collapse

NEVER leave a pet in a parked car, even for a minute. Always provide cool, shaded rest areas and avoid walking dogs during midday heat—early morning or evening is safer.

🍗 BBQ Hazards: Tasty But Toxic

Back garden BBQs are a summer staple—but they’re packed with dangers for curious noses:

• Cooked bones can splinter and cause choking or internal injury
• Onions, garlic, and corn cobs are toxic to dogs
• Fatty meats and sausages can cause pancreatitis

Always dispose of scraps securely and keep pets away from grills, skewers, and bins.

Summer blooms can be deceiving. Common garden plants like these can be highly toxic to pets:
