Nutracalm is a fast-acting natural calming supplement from Nutravet, and the one our vets and the trainers at The Dog Training Company recommend most often. It takes the edge off stress without sedating, so your pet stays themselves, just calmer. Most owners notice a difference within about an hour.

Use it on the day for fireworks, vet visits, travel or the groomer, or daily for pets with ongoing anxiety, separation issues or reactivity that you're working on with a trainer.

Why we recommend it

  • Passionflower extract 50mg and lemon balm 35mg, traditional calming herbs
  • L-theanine from decaffeinated green tea, which promotes relaxation without drowsiness
  • B vitamins and inositol to support the nervous system under stress
  • Works within about an hour, so it can be given when you need it
  • Safe for long-term daily use
  • Free from animal-derived ingredients and made in the UK
  • Capsules for cats and dogs, or weight-banded chews for dogs

When to use it

  • Fireworks night and thunderstorms
  • Vet, groomer and kennel visits
  • Car journeys and holidays
  • Separation anxiety and new arrivals in the home
  • Alongside a behaviour or training programme
  • Cats stressed by house moves, building work or new pets

How to give it

Capsules, daily by weight: cats and dogs under 10kg 1 capsule, dogs 10 to 25kg 2, dogs 25 to 50kg 3, dogs over 50kg 4. Give whole or open and sprinkle on food. For a known event, give about an hour beforehand.

Chews: one chew daily from the pack matched to your dog's weight. Small for dogs under 10kg, medium for 10 to 30kg, large for dogs over 30kg.

Frequently asked questions

Will it make my dog drowsy?
No. It calms without sedating, which is why it's suitable for training sessions as well as stressful events.

Can I give it every day?
Yes. Many pets with ongoing anxiety take it daily for months.

Is it enough for severe fireworks fear?
For mild to moderate anxiety, usually. For severe phobia, talk to us about prescription options alongside it, and start the Nutracalm a few days before.

Supplied by a veterinary practice

Nutracalm is a complementary feed supplied by Paws & Co Veterinary Centre, an independent vet practice in Yorkshire. It is not a medicine. If your pet's anxiety is severe or has started suddenly, please book an appointment, as pain and illness can show up as behaviour change. For behaviour and training support, our sister company The Dog Training Company has centres in Leeds and Sheffield.
