Nutravive is a fast-acting recuperation liquid from Nutravet for pets who are off their food, recovering from surgery or illness, or simply run down. It delivers calories, electrolytes, prebiotics, omega-3 and amino acids in a palatable liquid that most pets will lap or take from a syringe.
We send a lot of patients home with it after an operation or a stay in hospital, because the first few days of eating and drinking properly make a real difference to how quickly they bounce back.
Why we recommend it
- Energy and calories for pets eating less than they should
- Electrolytes, vitamins and minerals to support rehydration
- Prebiotics (inulin and FOS) to keep the gut bacteria balanced during recovery
- Omega-3 to support the gut lining
- Amino acids including taurine for tissue repair
- Palatable liquid, given neat, no mixing required
- Separate dog and cat formulas
Who it's for
- Recovery after surgery, dental procedures or a hospital stay
- Pets off their food through illness or stress
- Older pets who have lost condition
- Working or sporting dogs after heavy exertion
How to give it
Serve neat at room temperature, ideally in the morning before the first meal. If your pet won't take it from a bowl, use a syringe. Dose by weight: roughly 6ml per kg per day, so a 4kg cat has 24 to 30ml and a 20kg dog around 120ml. Use for 14 days, or longer if your vet advises. Refrigerate once opened.
Frequently asked questions
Is it a complete food?
No. It supports a pet who is eating less, and bridges the gap until normal appetite returns.
Can I give it alongside medication?
Yes, and it's often used to tempt pets who need to eat before tablets.
How long does a bottle last?
A 150ml bottle is about five days for a cat or small dog. Larger dogs will need more than one bottle for a full course.
Supplied by a veterinary practice
Nutravive is a complementary feed supplied by Paws & Co Veterinary Centre, an independent vet practice in Yorkshire. It is not a medicine. A pet that hasn't eaten for more than 24 hours, or a cat that hasn't eaten for 24 hours at all, needs to be seen by a vet rather than managed at home.
